Instructor Teresa Merriweather is an Elyria,Ohio native.
Teresa’s ambitions were detoured by the horrific experiences of being trafficked in the sex trade.
Her faith, personal ambition and perseverance instilled in her by her parents, allowed her to escape her trafficker and fulfill her professional goals so she may help others.
She obtained a Bachelor of Art in Sociology, Master of Science in the Administration of Justice & Security, Crime Scene Technician (CSI) certification and an Honorary Doctorate Degree. Teresa, successfully completed a Fellowship in human trafficking December of 2016.
She is co-author of "Rethinking Primary Prevention of Child Trafficking" , a framework published in the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry with worldwide distribution.
Teresa, is globally/nationally recognized for her expertise in human trafficking and member of the Global Alliance for Behavioral Health and Social Justice, Ohio Attorney General's Human Trafficking Commissions Legal/Legislative sub-committee, MHRCET Advisory Board (California), Ohio Planning Council, Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars and National Survivor Network.
Recently, the US Department of Education selected her to present on Life After Trafficking or Exploitation: Survivor Resilience, a webinar series on child trafficking. She trains all over the country on human trafficking awareness and has future plans of leading a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and restoring victims of human trafficking.
